🤔 Thoughts about career change

Published about 2 years ago • 1 min read

Hello Reader,

It's almost the end of February! 🙌 How have you been?

A while ago, I had a conversation with a sweet friend of mine about his decision to change his career. To give you a little bit of his background, he pursued a career for quite some time. He enjoyed his job, he had a good relationship with his coworkers, plus, he was earning a good amount of salary.

Despite that, his job felt unfulfilling for him. He constantly felt like he didn't belong in that path. He told me that there's something he really wanted to do. Something that he discovered himself and he truly would love to explore.

We know making changes, especially when it comes to career, often feels like going back to zero and starting over again. That’s so scary and overwhelming. 😳 Just imagine spending a lot of time and energy working for something only to realize it’s not for you.

That thought made my friend feel so much regret, shame, fear, and self-doubt. But as a risk-taker himself, he made a switch. He learned to finally follow what he truly wanted and believe in himself.

Today, he’s pursuing a different career that feels more fulfilling for him and he genuinely loves. He’s having fun learning and exploring. 😍

Career change is definitely one of the most difficult decisions he has ever made. He’s still making a lot of adjustments but for him, making sacrifices because he’s doing what he truly loves is something much better than struggling because he’s in a place where he doesn't belong.

Now, obviously, I’m not saying that you need to quit your job or drop out of school and do something else. 🙅‍♀️

My main point in telling you this story is to remind you to reflect and ask yourself this question, “Am I really doing what I want to do in life?” and if not, ask yourself: “What stops me from doing what I want to do?”

I’ll leave that to you, Reader. Thank you for reading and I’ll talk to you again next week! 💌

P.S. If you want to learn more about overcoming self-doubt, make sure to read this guest post that I wrote for Simply Alex Jean! I think you'll love it!

Hello Reader, I shared on my Instagram Story my reflection on the past month and I mentioned that I’ve been learning to start trusting my intuition. Intuition, or “gut feeling” is our immediate understanding of something. Listening to our intuition is so important to help us avoid unhealthy situations. One of the signs that you’re ignoring your intuition is when you feel like your life is ungrounded and imbalanced. Since I’ve been learning to tap into my intuition, I thought I’d share with...
